Great Belt

Topics:

The Great Belt is the major of the three straits of Denmark. It is 60 kilometers long and 16 to 32 km wide. The Great Belt flows around two major islands: Sprogø in the north and Langeland to the south. But most importantly, the Great Belt is miles and miles of lovely beaches, making it a popular family hotspot on Fyn.

With the completion in 1998 of Europe's longest bridge (over 18 km) over the Great Belt, the thousand-year era of ferry traffic that had set its stamp on Nyborg came to an end. What was a one-hour ferry ride before, is a 10 minute drive over the Great Belt Bridge now.
